She was the daughter of 10. Jacob August Thede and 11. Magdalen
Rosetta Smith.

for Andrew Vander Sande:
Andrew worked most of his live in an Iron Foundry in
Manitowoc where he retired from as a supervisor. He worked at one time as a bouncer in his sister's roadhouse
in Ashland, Wisconsin during the roaring 30's.
David was born there during that time.
Andrew was a man of many talents. He
was a gifted woodworker. He grew
his own tobacco and made his own cigars at one time.
He earned a hero's award for saving a boys life at age 70.
He rode his bicycle in later years over 5400 miles before having to
replace it! He was both a stern and
gentle man. I have so many memories
of him, hunting, fishing, and working with him. I owe so much to this man and
miss him deeply.
After Gen died, Andrew met Francis De Buhr Markwardt, who was widowed
also. They had originally dated in
1923. They were married and Andrew
enjoyed his latter years in peace.
